The Old Man and The Sea

The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway is the first full book I really remember reading and saying- WOW- That was a great book! It's actually the first full book I remember reading. Which would lead me on to more and more reading and which would eventually turn reading into one of my loves.

My father handed me this book when we were preparing to do a road trip to Bainbridge Ga. I wanna say I was in the 6th or 7th grade. I was not a big fan of reading at all then. I would read scripts, and I would write scripts and stories- but reading a full novel- NO WAY! I took it and was glued to it from the second I started to the second I finished it. It was an amazing book. I wish I still had the copy that my father handed me. I like to keep that kind of stuff now. It all seems so important to me these days.

Anyway, I walked in to a book store and purchased a copy of The Old Man and the Sea, and a Stephen King book that I had not heard of called, Blockade Billy. I am a huge Stephen King fan who collects his books. (sometimes extra copies just to give away to people that look like they would enjoy them- If I see a King book for a deal, and I already own it, Chances are- It will end up in my collection so I can eventually add it to someone else collection.

Anyway, Reading has become a vacation for me when I really need one. I bought this book with hope that my son will read it and it will change my life as well. He has not really shown interest in the Old Man and the Sea Yet, but after reading the back of Blockade Billy, he has shown an interest in that.

Stephen King is truly my favorite story teller. It is on my list to eventually play a role in a Stephen King film.

So 1 great book and 1 book bound for greatness here I come. Right after I have a meeting in regards to a new project. I am very excited. I had started this piece with a grand thought. Then my son burst into the room about how I must "Please" come out and play basketball- in which I gave in. Hopefully, he will give in and take on the enjoyment that reading has brought me one of these days. Stephen King if you ever read this- I could be one of your characters- Your films on my bucket list...... and who knows when i'm gonna go- so we better hurry this up.
